Monday Musings…

Afternoon gang, sorry this is a late one! Here are my Monday Musings for today. Firstly, today is Earth Day 2013, and Google are doing their bit with their very own green-themed ‘doodle.’

Earth Day

This is Google’s 13th Earth Day doodle. Today’s elaborate animation shows the cycle of seasons represented by the rising and falling sun and moon. Users can play and pause the moon and sun on four different images. Google never cease to surprise and delight me with the cute doodles (remember the one they had on Valentine’s Day 2012?),  Earth Day is held every year on 22nd April to highlight environmental issues, with events held around the world to show support. More than one billion people across 192 countries now participate in activities, with planting trees being one of the most popular ways to show support. While I’m not a top environmentalist by any means, I do think it’s wonderful to try and do a bit (however big or small), for our environment and think its great that so many come together to support the day.

One of my favourite film festivals of the year is the Cannes Film Festival. It always features film gems, which usually are big winners come award season. The full list of competing films was recently announced and it looks like a great lineup, featuring the likes of Nicolas Winding Refn’s Only God ForgivesAlexander Payne’s NebraskaAsghar Farhadi’s The Past, the Coen Bros Inside Llewyn Davis, Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring and a documentary from Roman Polanski. Opening this year’s festival is Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, which judging by its trailer, looks like it is going to be amazing. (FYI: Check out Lana Del Rey‘s beautiful song “Young and Beautiful”  from the movie, gorgeous track). So excited to see this year’s films!

In terms of beauty stuff, remember my post on mixing foundations? I recently bought two white foundations/products to play around with as my beloved Dainty Doll is running out and the liquid foundation is currently impossible to get, so I’ve bought Barry M’s White Foundation (recommended to me by fellow blogger Aoife), and the Mac Face and Body Foundation in White, so look out for reviews of them coming soon!

Aside from the above, I’m getting very excited that my trip to my favourite city in the world – Paris, is getting ever closer and I’m planning my list of things to do and trying to get organised!. It’ll be my second time there and as I’m there for almost six days, I’m planning to see the entire city…and then some! Does anyone have any particular restaurants they love to eat in while there? All suggestions as of what to do (asides from the usual tourist attractions) would be most welcome!
