Vogue Magazine: Maire Antoinette – The Teen Queen Who Rocked Versailles

The September 2006 cover

The September 2006 cover

I’m a sucker for Vogue magazine. In particular, the fashion spreads in the US magazine are generally incredible to look at, thanks to the formidable talents of Creative Director Grace Coddington (FYI: She is amazing). I was having a look back at some of my favourite shoots over the past number of years and the 2006 September Issue with Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette (Sofia Coppola’s much underrated gem of a movie was about to be released) on the front cover, still stands out. Renowned fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz was behind the lens for this one and the backdrop for the shoot was set in Versailles in Paris, France. Incredibly, it was the first time in 25 years that the location was allowed to be used by a magazine for a photo shoot. The result was one of the most beautiful spreads out of all the recent September Issues. See for yourself!

My favourite of all the shots is this stunning photo of Kirsten in this Chanel Haute Couture gown – amazing!
